The name, "Mountain Folk Singers", has a double meaning depending on where the accent is placed. It was an easy name to come up with since the members are all residents of the Southern California San Bernardino Mountains where they have become a musical institution.

Once, a math teacher wanted to take Bill's guitar away until his grades improved, fortunately his mother didn't agree. Bill went on to record a hit album with high school buddies. He then performed at a variety of clubs. In the 1970's, Bill and his younger sister, Nanette took their act on the road. During this tour they met the famous New Christy Minstrels and were invited to join the group. Later he enjoyed a successful solo musical career that included his album "Counting on You", several published songs, and an award from the American Song Festival for writing "You Touch me Again". Bill writes much of the music performed by The Mountain Folk Singers and produces their albums. He is also a successful concert promoter. Bill Florian
